Full Version: Help with Heat Exchange in Modelica

I'm a student in Univercity of Chemical Technologies and Metalurgy of Sofia and I'm interested of Dimola. My interest is provoked of the capabilities of the product. More exactly I want to know more about: is Dimola capable to configurate a technological diagram, for example heat exchanger of this kind below, and to observe the responses of step inputs

Hello,

I would say it is possible to design a model as described by your images in Dymola. In the standard library of Modelica there is a package for thermodynamics called Modelica.Thermal which can handle flows of different kinds of media (gas and liquid) including heat transfer.

In general there are some drawbacks with simulating flows in the range of zero. Sometimes the simulation gets stuck or even crashes. But usually you'll find a work around for this.

Attached to this post you'll find a screenshot of a sample-model which is part of the Modelica standard library and is related to the problem you have.
